Kitchen Science
Ingredients
¾ cup beer or chicken broth (low sodium)
½ cup barbecue sauce
1 tbsp bourbon
1 tsp cayenne pepper sauce
¼ tsp seasoned salt
¼ tsp mustard powder
2 cups rotisserie chicken, shredded
8 split slider buns
1 ½ cups smoked cheddar cheese, shredded
Directions
Preheat your broiler. Bring the first 6 ingredients to a boil in a big pot. Reduce heat to low
And cook uncovered, for 8-10 minutes or until slightly thickened, stirring periodically. Stir in the chicken and heat through.
Place the buns, cut side up, on a baking sheet. Broil 3-4 inches from the heat for 30-60 seconds or until lightly toasted.
Remove the tops of the buns from the baking sheet.
Top with the chicken mixture and sprinkle with cheese.
Broil 3-4 inches from the heat until the cheese melts, about 1-2 minutes.
Add the bun toppers.
Recipe Note
Don't turn your back while the buns are broiling or the cheese melts; they move from perfect to well-done in the blink of an eye. You can also make this with leftover shredded chicken.
