Ingredients
1 cup of Water
a pinch of Sea salt
½ cup Rolled oats, old-fashioned
½ Sliced small bananas
1 tbsp Hazelnut-chocolate spread
1 tsp Flaky sea salt
Directions
In a small saucepan, bring water and a pinch of regular salt to a boil. Stir in the oats, reduce the heat to medium, and cook, occasionally stirring, for about 5 minutes or until most of the liquid has been absorbed.
- Remove from the heat, cover, and set aside for 2 to 3 minutes. Add a banana, chocolate spread, and flaky salt to the top.
Recipe Note
- Overnight Oats: In a jar or bowl, mix the 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats, 1/2 cup water, and a pinch of salt. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Add toppings in the morning. Eat cold or warm. This recipe yields about 1 cup.
- Steel-cut Oats: In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup of water and a pinch of salt to a boil. Reduce the heat to a low simmer, cover, and cook, occasionally stirring, for 15 to 20 minutes or until most of the liquid has been absorbed. Remove from the heat and set aside for 2 to 3 minutes, then cover. Toppings are optional. This recipe yields about 1 cup.
- Because oats are frequently cross-contaminated with wheat and barley, people with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity should use only "gluten-free" oats.
