Ingredients
½ sugar
½ cup of water
1 cup lemon juice
½ cup mint leaves, fresh
½ cup bourbon, optional
4 cups ginger ale
Ice cubes
Lemon slices and fresh mint leaves (optional)
Directions
Bring sugar and water to a boil in a small pot. Reduce heat to low and cook for 1-2 minutes until sugar is dissolved.
Remove from the heat and stir in the lemon juice and mint leaves. Stir in the bourbon if desired.
Refrigerate for 1 hour or until completely cooled.
Strain mixture into a 2-quart pitcher before serving; whisk in ginger ale. Serve with ice. Top with lemon slices and more mint, if preferred.
